Everything You Need To Know About Soccer Field Measurements

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

When it comes to soccer field measurements, it is worth noting that the dimensions are uniform, regardless of the level of play. According to FIFA, the governing body of soccer, for professional events which involves 11 players for each one team, the soccer field ought to have a span of 100 to 130 yards and a width between 50 to 100 yards. Soccer fields in England are believed to be smaller than that resulting to more physical games. In contrast, in South America, the fields are much bigger which provides more room and time on the ball.

For recreational soccer, playing on a smaller soccer field is highly recommended. By doing this, players will unquestionably make the game enjoyable and learning is more achievable. The dimension of the playing field should be proportional to the size of the player. In a big field, recreational players would waste their time running and turn out to be tired by half time. Therefore, the kicks will be much longer.

Another problem of playing recreational soccer in a large field is that teaching strategies and team play is unlikely. Smaller soccer fields are most excellent for average players who are slower and lack stamina, which is usually common in 50% to 75% of recreational players.

The Penalty Area

This is the area where the goalkeeper usually uses their hands and fouls are punished. It includes the penalty spot, which is 12 yards from the goal and the six-yard box 6 yards more from the goal. The top portion of this box includes a small arc commonly referred to as “the D.” It has a radius of 10 yards and has no point in the rules of soccer but merely serves as a guide for the players.

The Goal

Apart from of the level of play, the goal has a uniform measurement of 8 feet tall and 24 feet wide.

Center Circle

It divides the soccer field into two zones and is where the kickoff takes place. No player is allowed to cross their area until kickoff commences. It has a 10-yard circle within it and only the two players kicking off is permitted to stand within the inner circle.

Although soccer field measurements remain unchanged regardless of the players competing, the rules of the game allows the dimensions to be smaller for female players, persons with disabilities, or those who are under 16 years old and more than 35 years of age.

The Players Who Make Chelsea Work

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Chelsea’s squad is so packed with talent you may claim it’s hard to find the players that make the team work. Without these players Chelsea just wouldn’t be on the same level.

1. JOHN TERRY (England, Central defender)

Terry is captain of club and country and he sets the benchmark which the other Chelsea players adhere to. Willing to defend by any means necessary with skill and bravery, he has incredible skill and a technically sound style. Not afraid to lead by example and always managers to be a danger for teams set pieces, you could not find a better player to captain your club and country.

2. ASHLEY COLE  (England, Left back)

He may not be the most popular player amongst Arsenal fans, but despite their bile, Ashley Cole is still, arguably, the best left back in world soccer. At times he may struggle for confidence and form, his quality balls into the box after breakaways down the left side can only be matched by his nack of stopping the worlds best players in their tracks. noone else managers to keep players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo quite during games. That’s no fluke, only a world class left back can pull it off.

3. MIKAEL ESSIEN (Ghana, Central midfielder)

Last seasons injury made all Chelsea fans realise how important a role Mikael Essien played, even in a team filled with a world class midfield. Essien helps balance the midfield. With first class defensive skill and a high work rate not to mention a great intelligence for the game. With a powerful shot from a distance and the ability to go forward at the right time making him an asset to the team. The 24.4 million pounds Chelsea paid to land the midfielder from Lyon in the summer of 2005 looks to be a bargain at today’s prices.

4. FRANK LAMPARD (England, Central Midfielder)

What’s a team without a midfielder who can score plenty of goals? Lampard is one of the best around. He has started scoring goals again this season due to Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to give him a slightly deeper role in the team. Frank Lampard is a vital source of attacking strength due to his accurate shooting and ability to link play with his strikers.

5. DIDIER DROGBA (Ivory Coast, Attacker)

Considered by many to be the best striker in the world at the moment, and its hard to argue the point considering his current form. Didier Drogba wearing the latest Chelsea soccer jersey makes all defenders fear the upcoming game. He may be known for his ability to fall over during tackles and arguing with officials and opposing players but no goalkeeper wants him with the ball when he’s playing well. An excellent sense of presence coupled with prestigious goal scoring skill make him a must have for the team. His form is vital for Chelsea if they are to end Manchester United’s dominance of the Premier league.

Five of the best soccer players in the world contributing to one of the best teams.

How to Safely Buy Manchester United Football Tickets Online

Monday, December 28th, 2009

When Purchasing for Manchester United football tickets online you should aware of how they operate because there will be some who are just scamming innocent Man United fans. Should you want genuine Manchester United Football tickets, then you need to find a business selling them online that is tried and trusted. It’s always a good idea to search for customer reviews before you purchase from a particular vendor. In addition to worries about getting ripped off by some dishonest site, you also want to avoid vendors that don’t deliver their goods on time. If your are reading a review on line you need to be able to tell the difference between someone’s genuine report and a virtual plug put there by the company of person. The best way to discern if a review is genuine or advertising is to look for a hyperlink towards the end of the review.

Customers don’t usually have a reason to post a link to the very product they are reviewing and a  legitimate customer reviewing a product is of that kind. Advertisers have found a new way to advertise since most email spam blockers today block their ads, and so they turn to reviews. There is a bigger chance for a review to be legit if a review is link free. Some people prefer to buy tickets on eBay because you can often find cheaper prices, but it is definitely a better idea to do business with a website specializing in tickets. Sometimes ticket sellers on eBay ship the ticket too late, and sometimes not even at all. Most people you do business with on eBay are honest but if you decide to purchase this way make sure you read their feedback to get a better idea of how professional they are.

Another way to avoid being scammed is to make sure the checkout page is encrypted before you type in ANY purchasing information. This is something that is extremely important, even though few people consider it during their checkout. What are the signs that will tell you if a web page is encrypted? You will see HTTP at the start of a website address Web pages which are encrypted contain “HTTPS” in their address, not the usual “HTTP”. It is important to make sure the page is encrypted even if the company is completely honest, because sometimes it does not show respect for the customers and the security of their personal information. You can be pretty certain that the vendor is safe to purchase from if their check out page is encrypted, and if they have good reviews.

It is also important to go with your gut and these guidelines are important to follow in order to avoid being scammed. Should a vendor’s pitch not seem plausible to you, avoid buying anything from that vendor. If something seems off then there is a good chance something is. When it comes to avoiding a scam artist, a little scrutiny goes a long way. Your job now is to find a price that is the best! You can buy with confidence the next time you shop on the web if you remember the information presented in this article.

Manchester United To Buy Slovakian Star Midfielder

Monday, December 28th, 2009

It appears that Marek Hamsik has lined up a £25m transfer bid to move to Manchester United come January.

Many critics believe Manchester United’s biggest weakness is the midfield and the fact that Paul Scholes form hasn’t been great and Ryan Giggs is not getting any younger may convince Alex Ferguson to make some player transfers come January.

With interest from Liverpool and Chelsea as well, the signing of Hamsik would add attacking ability to Manchester United’s midfield. Snapped up by Brescia after proving his skill with Slovan Bratislava. Transferring to Napoli for 5.5m Euros after dominating the midfield at Brescia scoring 10 goals from the midfield.

Since joining Napoli in 2007, the goal scoring efforts of Hamsik have made him one of the best in Serie A. His impressive record of 25 goals in just 81 games bears comparison with some of the finest midfielders in Serie A and there are many strikers who would be proud to boast a similar strike rate. The Slovakian midfielder has quickly been named the best midfielder in Serie A by experts throughout Italy after his two goals against Juventus.

Hamsik’s efforts for his national team Slovakia have been extremely impressive. Expected to be one of the major stars of the upcoming World Cup his efforts might put him down into soccer history forever.

Despite interest in the player from Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks, Napoli have refused to sanction any idea that the player will be sold. This has been reiterated in recent weeks by sporting director Riccardo Bigon who stated:

“Manchester United are after Hamsik? If we rejected the rumours regarding a friend like [Carlo] Ancelotti and his Chelsea, it is obvious we also reject these rumours.”

Napoli chairman has supported these comments and stated:

“Many clubs have requested Hamsik, it’s true, but he will stay with us for the long-term”

Manchester United hope to make their move in Summer and if Napoli’s stance will remain the same is still unknow. Napoli are not a particularly wealthy club and despite the chairman’s insistence that Hamsik is not for sale, it remains to be seen that if a firm offer was on the table that matched their valuation, whether they would be tempted into selling.

Chelsea’s desperation to buy players may push any deals between the two clubs away. Roman Abramovich has purportedly given manager Carlo Ancelotti the green light to make a £25m move for the player so they might beat Manchester United to the punch
